REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings Learn about 'Green Gentrification'Cities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?
Magnolia Martin 5/09/2024 2:18 PMThere are multiple ways that cities can take action on the issue of climate change without changing the costs of housing and basic living. The city can enforce recycling, turning off lights when we don’t need them, and installing energy-efficient lights like LEDs. Cities can also make it more bike accessible so fewer people are driving and emitting CO2. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Magnolia Martin 5/06/2024 12:07 PMI find that when I eat without distractions or technology I enjoy my food more. When I am eating and scrolling on my phone I don't think about what I am eating I kind of zone out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use More Fruits And VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Magnolia Martin 5/06/2024 12:02 PMEating more fruits and vegetables helps me to stay in shape and helps me feel good. When I eat too much processed food I start feeling bad and like I am crawling out of my skin. Eating less meat can help to not over use our resources. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Practice the 5 RsWhat are some more "Rs" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?
Magnolia Martin 5/03/2024 11:54 AMI can make sure that I am looking at everything I throw away to see if it can be recycled. I can also try to use more metal and glass products that are reusable and to use less one-use plastic items. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Explore Other Transportation SolutionsWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Magnolia Martin 4/29/2024 12:23 PMI found out about a lot of different ways of transportation that do not take as much energy and reduce carbon emissions. I also realized that I am doing more of these on a regular basis than I knew. I thought that it was interesting that project drawdown was encouraging people to work from home and do business meetings from home because there is already an increase in office space vacancies. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Try CarpoolingList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Magnolia Martin 4/29/2024 12:20 PMI frequently go to school and hang out with my friends so I could start carpooling to school with my neighbors and carpooling with my friends to wherever we decide to hang out.
