REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More About Geothermal EnergyGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Henry Leisring 5/16/2024 6:07 PMI think that if everyone invests in this geothermal technology we will save a lot of money and reduce a lot of wasted energy and in the end release less co2. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More about Micro WindMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Henry Leisring 5/16/2024 9:20 AMThey could be installed on top of schools, hotels, and tall buildings where electricity is needed. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More about BiomassHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
Henry Leisring 5/09/2024 9:53 AMI have never heard of biomass technology before this. I was really interested and surprised by the fact that it's all natural and releases zero emissions and that if we can harness this tool throughout the whole world we can replace fossil fuels. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Research PeatlandsMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Henry Leisring 5/03/2024 9:37 AMWe can make petitions and try to start laws against it. Also we can fund companies that protect and build up peatlands. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Research the Climate Impact of RefrigerantsWhat did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?
Henry Leisring 5/01/2024 4:25 PMI learned that CFCs are used in refrigerants all the time by companies and that they are a big player in the thinning of our atmosphere or ozone layer. Also I learned that CFCs are the molecules that thin the ozone layer and they are bad to use and that's why they were banned.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Henry Leisring 4/30/2024 9:03 AMPeople in richer countries eat more meat than others because its more avalaible to them and there able to afford it. People in more poor countries don't have that same access and cant afford it. Eating meat can effect our body's in good and bad ways. But for the planet it can be unhealthy because we farm cattle, and other animals and we mass proudce them which can be a big stress on the earth.
