  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

I think a portion of the investment should come from taxes, but I also think that it should be fund raised and petitioned for. I think the people should want it to happen rather than just forcibly doing it through taxes.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More about Micro Wind
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

In Asheville, we can put our microwind turbines on our tall buildings downtown. I think it would also make sense to put them in the large cell towers sitting on top of the blue ridge mountains.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

The thing I enjoy most about walking around is listening to the sounds of nature, like birds and wind. The changes I would make in infrastructure to make walking more enjoyable would be to move the big roads to reduce the noise of cars, and to not have loud and bright construction going on on every block.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

The main thing I can personally do is to stop consuming these products because not contributing to demand gives them just a tiny bit more reason to not destroy these lands.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

Mindful eating is a wonderful way to get some time outside. I have been starting to eat meals out in the sun, and it makes me feel much much better afterwards than if I did something like watch Netflix while I eat.
