Knowing the use by, sell by, and best by label definitions will help to prevent food waste. I'm embarrassed by the amount of food, particularly condiments, I've discarded that were likely still very edible.

One perk to being a vet that is not afraid of germs, if it still smells good and tastes ok, I still eat it and won’t throw it away!!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

Eating smaller portions is a great step toward better health and longevity. Our portion sizes are out of control in this country. Being intentional about eating only what we need is ideal for the environment and my waist!
