I used to think family planning was just about deciding when to have kids, but it’s so much bigger than that. It’s about knowing what’s right for your life, your health, your goals, and your relationships. Whether that means choosing birth control, prepping for parenthood, or just having honest convos with a partner, it’s all about being intentional. No one-size-fits-all, and that’s exactly why it matters.

How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

I’m a pescatarian, so I don’t eat red meat like beef. That helps lower deforestation, since raising cows often leads to trees being cut down. To lower my impact even more, I can choose fish that are caught in safe, earth-friendly ways and eat more fruits and vegetables that are grown close to home. This helps protect forests and supports better farming.

What do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?

    Raimonda Karalius's avatar
    Raimonda Karalius 7/24/2025 2:33 PM
I want to prioritize sustainability and mindful living over material stuff. Choosing to go paperless helped me focus on reducing waste and making choices that are better for the planet, rather than collecting things I don't really need/want.

Need versus want can be a tough decision sometimes, but it gets easier the more you practice.

Micro Wind = Tiny Turbines, Local Power. Small wind systems turn backyard breezes into clean energy. Great for off-grid living or boosting sustainability at home.

How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

To express your personality, creativity, and values without fast fashion or purchasing more clothes and accessories, styling clothes you already own is essential. For example, you can use a dress as a skirt, or long sleeves as a halter top. Also, you can learn to alter or upcycle clothes to express your individuality with items you already own. Lastly, you can create accessories or jewelry using various household items or beads from the craft store. If you decide to buy more clothes, thrift and other secondhand stores are a great place to look!

I love thrifting! It’s like going through your grandma’s closet. You never know what treasures you’ll find.

What are the multiple benefits of community gardens, including carbon sequestration? Why do these benefits matter to you?

    Kodi Hembree's avatar
    Kodi Hembree 7/20/2025 10:54 AM
Community gardens are awesome. They pull carbon from the air, grow fresh food, cool down city heat, soak up rain, and bring people together. I love them because they’re proof that small, local action can actually move the needle on climate stuff and growing your own tomato? Total win.

And especially with kids, if they grow a vegetable they will learn to cook it and eat it.
