REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Faith Wheeler 3/20/2024 8:17 AMWe planted trees at my grandparents house and it was a whole family thing. It was so nice to do something outside and that was not mentally or physically taxing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Spread the Word about Energy AlternativesWhat inspiration and wisdom can you gather from your family, faith, or community traditions that would help you in both communicating about and addressing our most pressing energy issues?
Faith Wheeler 3/20/2024 8:15 AMBy connecting and giving importance to taking care of the earth from my faith and beliefs I can help my family understand why using alternative energies and talking about ways to avoid using any energy in excess. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Zero-Waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
Faith Wheeler 3/08/2024 8:27 AMI made a stew and salad for my zero waste meal. I repurposed the skins and stalks because they can be plant starters and because we raise cows for meat and then get them butchered locally all of the meat we get from it can be used as well. So by making plant starters or used the skins for flavor I can help with producing 0 waste meals. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More About Geothermal EnergyGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Faith Wheeler 3/08/2024 8:20 AMI can talk to people and share what I have learned especially about how abundant and replenishing this energy is. The plants needed for it are also super clean and because the heat comes from the inner earth if done correctly there is no greenhouse gas emissions from it.
