REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Zayden Verbrugghe 4/30/2025 5:55 PMMy walks could be better with better ways to cross the street instead of just running across them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Zayden Verbrugghe 4/30/2025 6:44 AMI learned that family planning is important to women of the modern age. This advice that is given to women about family planning can save money and lives. However the needs and availability of family planning is different around the world, and it is not equal. In poorer countries family planning is barely available to women, but in wealthy countries family planning is widely available. Hopefully one day family planning will be widely available to people all over the globe. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
Zayden Verbrugghe 4/30/2025 6:12 AMI learned that this existed. I had no idea that this was a thing but it makes a lot of sense and I am surprised that it wasn’t thought of before. I think it’s better than other renewable sources because it's so predictable, the tide will always be moving. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
Zayden Verbrugghe 4/24/2025 5:42 AMI knew of biomass but I didn’t really know anything about it. It suprised me that ethonal was a biomass made of corn. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
Zayden Verbrugghe 4/10/2025 5:19 PMMy entire meal was taken from leftovers from the night before there for I did not waste any food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Zayden Verbrugghe 4/02/2025 6:12 AMBefore this I had never heard of silvopasture but now I see that it is very important. I think the most important thing is that farmers get to spread out their income to multible income streams. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Zayden Verbrugghe 3/28/2025 6:42 AMIt allows us to stop so much food waste by knowing when the food goes bad in reality.
