Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 90 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Smaller Portions
Reduced Food Waste
I will use smaller plates and/or serve smaller portions when dishing out food.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Reduce Food Waste
Reduced Food Waste
I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during Drawdown Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Lia Terraza-Duenas 3/25/2025 12:22 PMI slept a lot better after going on a 90-minute walk. Even if my walk was an hour or less, I was calm and able to clear my head. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Lia Terraza-Duenas 3/25/2025 10:16 AMUsing smaller plates could help us eat less. Sometimes if we have a bunch of food on our plate, we feel like we have to try to eat all of it even if we are already full. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Lia Terraza-Duenas 3/25/2025 10:07 AMI've started walking to work, and I noticed that I am calm once I clock in. Usually I start my shift a bit stressed and restless; it's a nice switch. If I go on a hike, I feel more at peace. There are no time constraints, and I can listen to birds and rustling. It is more relaxing, for me, to walk in nature and not around the city.
