REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Anthony Sworsy 4/29/2025 6:43 AMMicro turbinds could be placed is any big open structure down town because it gets really windy there. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Anthony Sworsy 4/29/2025 6:22 AMI think that richer counties eat more meet because its more expensive to get meat. Eating all animal products is worse for your body and the environment because of how much waste is made.-
Ella Eslamian 4/29/2025 10:09 AMHi Anthony! I agree with you. Meat can be expensive, and in wealthier countries, it can be seen as a sign of status or luxury. But when you eat too much meat, especially red or processed meats, it can negatively impact your health. And the environmental cost is huge too, from the amount of land, water, and energy it takes to raise animals, as well as the emissions and waste. It's definitely a bigger issue than just what we eat.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Anthony Sworsy 4/29/2025 6:09 AMIt helps us reduce food waste by seeing what foods are closer to being thrown you can buy them and use it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhat was the most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Anthony Sworsy 4/28/2025 8:36 PMI would rather use the money on maybe on new things or save it for something nice. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Anthony Sworsy 4/28/2025 8:32 PMAfter the hurricane i came to appreciate nature and trees a lot more. Seeing all the downed trees made me appropriate them more. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Anthony Sworsy 4/28/2025 8:17 PMYou will have a lot less to clean up after your done. and you might get healthier based on what your goals are. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
Anthony Sworsy 4/24/2025 5:42 AMI had heard about Biomass but I didn't know much about it. I learned that Biomass is all living or once living products that are transformed into energy and power. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Anthony Sworsy 4/23/2025 6:17 AMI think that the feasible investment would be to to make it more known and popular so people can use its benefits to reduce wast. Geothermal energy is really restricted by location so making the places that its possible well know could be really useful. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Anthony Sworsy 4/02/2025 6:13 AMIt was a completely new concept to me. I think the biggest advantages would be the much better quality of life for the cows.
