My daughter and I have discussed the need for sidewalks to make our neighborhood more walkable. There is enough space on each side of the road to have them, but the city won't. It would be great to be able to just walk our dogs here, but since there are no sidewalks, it isn't a great option in the rain or when fast drivers fly down our street.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Food Waste
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

We already try to limit food waste, though it is still a work in progress. For the two of us, the total would be $750/yr using this statistic. That would pay utility bills for one month and feed our animals for one month.
