For the past four or five years, i’mve chosen to be a vegan.
Funny how that can end up being lots of legumes and grains, and veg can still sit languishing in the fridge.
I promise myself to get back on track.
4 cups of veggies, it is. Here I go!

Hello! I’m glad there is a team I can join. After noting all the closed teams with passwords, it was a relief to find the community team. I hope you are all ok that I am here, working with all of you to see what I can do to make a difference.
Late last year, I realized I had been so focused on my work for so long, I hadn’t really taken any time to explore other things I’m really interested in and find important, like protecting our earth. I took up crocheting first, then,
I actually began a mini exploration into all of this, and realized just how much I don’t know, and how much there must be that I can change, just me, myself.
The discussions I began having were really fascinating, and I learned so much from friends and colleagues who had paid attention to this for decades. Oh, but I have so much more to learn!
I happened upon this website this evening - unexpectedly - and am so excited to begin the challenge! It feels good, doesn’t it? More aligned. For me, also, I’m wondering, why didn’t I do this decades ago, too? I’m just so glad I’ve now begun.
I look forward to reading about all of your insights!

Right away, after trying the carbon footprint calculator the first time, I noticed the easiest action to change was how often I use my car.
If I just drive to morning jobs, when the bus can’t get me there on time, and walk and use public transport the rest of the day, I can bring down my carbon footprint significantly, actually bringing it down to a score of .9 earths needed this year if everyone did what I was doing.
Tomorrow, I’ll work on taking public transportation after 10am, when I can utilize my mobile office (coffee/tea shops, markets, library) and am a little more flexible on time.
I am so happy with the results of changing one habit of my life (driving my car), I now wonder what else I can change to make the results even less of a footprint.
I’ll try the carbon footprint calculator a few more times to see what I can tweak.
    It’s an adventure!

Just to note, the buses in my town don’t run on gasoline - they are biodiesel. I do feel better riding busses for that reason.
Although, I’m not exactly sure what biodiesel is! lol - maybe tomorrow I’ll call them and ask them to tell me more information. It would be good to know.
