REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Research the Climate Impact of RefrigerantsWhat did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?
Alexis Seymour (101) 10/21/2024 9:32 AMThey add to global warming and they destroy the ozone layer. They use a lot of energy and they often leak causing even more waste products. Supermarkets should look for recycled things and use LED lighting- both use less energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Learn about the Need for Family PlanningWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Alexis Seymour (101) 10/21/2024 9:23 AMFamily planning is vital for people to make informed decisions about the number and spacing of their children. This will help them have more success. By family planning, you can control the population. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings Fix Leaky FaucetsWhat are other easy and low-cost ways to reduce your water usage at home?
Alexis Seymour (101) 10/21/2024 9:19 AMYou can reduce water usage at home, by turning off the water when you brush your teeth and you can take shorter showers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More about Micro WindMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Alexis Seymour (101) 10/17/2024 9:29 AMThey could be put near the lake near my house. Turbines work well near a body of water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Alexis Seymour (101) 10/17/2024 9:27 AMIf we eat smaller portions at a time we will know when we are full. This reduces the risk of overeating or not being able to finish what is on our plate. This reduces food waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Alexis Seymour (101) 10/14/2024 6:15 PMSpending time outdoors helps us reconnect to nature. It gives us direction and purpose. It grounds us. It was nice to explore the areas around me that I typically don't take the time to really look around. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks Learn about BiocharCan biochar provide additional benefits besides sequestering carbon?
Alexis Seymour (101) 10/09/2024 6:32 AMIt can positively contribute to soil performance. It allows the soil to retain water and nutrients better. It is a substitute for chemical fertilizers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Alexis Seymour (101) 10/09/2024 5:59 AMThe food we eat contributes to deforestation- increased demand for meat, intensive livestock farming, and overuse of pesticides and fertilizers all contribute. To decrease negative impact we can consume less meat and less processed food. To improve our impact we can eat plant-based food and fruits. -
