  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Properly Dispose of Refrigerants
How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

    Carley Schuckman101 10/23/2024 10:33 AM
I know climate change exists, but I'm unsure how to support the effort. Unfortunately, many, many people need to change their ways so we see a difference. We need an advocate to educate those who don't believe in climate change and we need to change the way we do things. Reduce carbon emissions by walking or biking to nearby places rather than driving.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Industry Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Carley Schuckman101's avatar
    Carley Schuckman101 10/23/2024 10:30 AM
New clothes aren't needed to express personality. Just being who you are and being conscious about fast fashion is a value that can't be shown on the outside. You don't need to buy new things to show who you are.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Practice the 5 Rs
What are some more "Rs" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?

    Carley Schuckman101's avatar
    Carley Schuckman101 10/16/2024 10:20 AM
I currently recycle. I could add in repurpose and reuse into my daily practice to reduce waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Food Waste
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

    Carley Schuckman101's avatar
    Carley Schuckman101 10/10/2024 10:45 AM
I would rather use this money for other necessities such as paying for gas, house mortgages, etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

    Carley Schuckman101's avatar
    Carley Schuckman101 10/07/2024 9:32 AM
Health benefits arise from eating smaller portions. Eating large portions is unhealthy and can cause weight gain and poor diet.
