  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Purchase a Carbon Offset
A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

I already drove once instead of flying. That was a short trip to LA. But the following week, after a grueling drive down the i5, I flew to Orange County. I think finding a balance. I'm flying to New Mexico next week and one of my flights was the carbon reduced flight. It's the same flight, but one was listed as offset and the other was not. Will do more digging on how they calculate that.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More about Micro Wind
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

I think micro turbines on the buildings and walls surrounding the highway would be a great place to start. Using the wind generated by the cars passing through. I also found that there are micro turbines available on Amazon starting around 50 bucks. The tiny ones can be used to charge power banks or cell phones.

Noticed there are a lot of people walking in the morning. But there are a lot more cars.
