REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?
Roland Owings 4/10/2025 7:16 AMI learned that things used in refrigerants can harm the ozone layer, and supermarkets can and should swap out their harmful CFCs for more natural refrigerants. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat are some attributes of an offset that you should consider before purchasing them?
Roland Owings 4/09/2025 7:49 AMIf they have been influenced by greenwashing or not because there is false information being spread about how things are good for the environment when they are not. You should also consider how much it costs and if it's reasonable to implement. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Roland Owings 4/08/2025 8:04 AMI learned that family planning is needed to slow down overpopulation. People in poorer areas like Africa need better education than richer communities in the US to avoid unwanted pregnancy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Roland Owings 4/07/2025 7:56 AMA barrier that exists is the pay that women get causing most women to be a lower class than men are in the grand scheme of things. This barrier affects their participation on a global scale because they are less likely to get enough money to make a difference in society or have their voice heard. These barriers exist because men in history always made the rules so they made it impossible for someone who is not a man to be in power. I think a way we can address this moving forward is by giving women equal pay to men and moving forward to give women more chances to get jobs. In simple forms They are less likely to get a job or have enough money to pursue their dream jobs so they cannot have as much of an impact in society as men can. -
Roland Owings 3/28/2025 7:55 AMits going very badly because I keep forgetting to submit the daily challenge. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Roland Owings 3/20/2025 8:02 AMbecause meat tastes better than most plants and are more expensive to produce than plants are. eating more meat can affect our bodies in a varying amount of ways, like it can be helpful supplying us with the protein we need to live, and it can be bad because of fats that can harm us. This can affect our planet because the extra meat we don't eat gets turned into waste which opens up a way for pollution.
