REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Gia Mora 4/02/2024 6:52 PMThe sidewalks in my neighborhood are challenging, especially for someone like me with mobility issues. It's easy to catch a toe or clip my cane because of all the broken cement from tree roots makeing the ground uneven and difficult to traverse. We also live about six blocks from a major highway, so the noise pollution gets worse the further north you walk. Despite all that, we've had a tremendous amount of rain that has given the native flora more gorgeous blooms than I've seen in my 10 years here! LA has its problems, but the beautiful scenery ain't one of them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Tend A GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Gia Mora 4/02/2024 3:58 PMI go to nature when I need to find inspiration. I love the colors, textures, and shapes. I study the shadows. Finding small animals is a practical pasttime in my house. Being in nature gets me off of screens and into the warmth of the sun and the sound of birds, which heals me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Spread the Word about Energy AlternativesWhat inspiration and wisdom can you gather from your family, faith, or community traditions that would help you in both communicating about and addressing our most pressing energy issues?
Gia Mora 4/02/2024 3:54 PMWhen people meet me, they most often comment on my energy and enthusiasm, and I like to think I carry that family tradition with me into every conversation I have about the transition away from fossil fuels. I highlight all the benefits that clean energy has to offer, making the challenges seem less daunting, and making green living look like the smart, easy thing to do. Excitement can be infectious, so I hope to be a superspreader. :)
