getting easier to eat vegan! I figured out a meal system that works and it's been smooth sailing ever since

What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I tend to use plastic containers very often, like single-use takeout boxes/bowls. In substitution, I've been bringing my own tupperwares to restaurants in order to reduce plastic waste. It's a little embarrassing sometimes, but embarrassment is just a made up concept so I'm not letting it stop me

I think your substitution is really beneficial and it will all work out in the long run. I can see how it can feel embarrassing but at least you know it is for a good cause.

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

I feel like meat is commodity that is taken for granted in wealthy countries, which results in it being consumed at a higher rate than in poorer countries. Eating greater amount of meat can have adverse health effects like heart disease and high cholesterol, while also producing large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions.

Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

My eating experience was so much more peaceful without the distraction, and I was more aware of my fullness cues without something playing constantly in the background. It was nice to have a moment to connect with myself, especially over something as intimate as food.
