REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Adam Moen 1/17/2024 1:29 PMI am hoping the smaller portions will help me not over eat until my stomach hurts (if there is food on my plate, I feel like I have to eat it all). Though I have to say, I end up going back up for seconds quite a bit lol. That's still better than over eating. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use CompostingProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Adam Moen 1/12/2024 7:06 AMI have started composting and it's honestly harder than I thought. I have a tumbler but trying to get the ride proportion of stuff for it has been tough. Can't seem to get it to actually compost right. But the amount of food waste that I see produced as well as the amount of gardening I do, makes me really want to continue trying to make my composting attempts work! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Tend A GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Adam Moen 1/12/2024 6:47 AMGrowing plants has been a new and amazing hobby for me. I have started growing a few herbs and plant to grow more to make homemade teas. Being able to watch a plant grow from a small bud, slowly getting bigger each day is extremely rewarding. I remember watching my lemon tree sprout for the first time and being absolutely fascinated. I planted it more as a joke, but it made my plant journey take off in a way I never thought possible. It's genuinely so much fun. -
