Micro Wind Turbines
I will spend at least 10 minutes learning more about the energy generation potential of micro wind.
Electricity

Electricity
Support Companies Leading in Green Energy
Utility-Scale Solar Photovoltaics, Distributed Solar Photovoltaics

Ocean Power
I will spend at least 10 minutes learning more about the energy generation potential of wave and tidal energy.
Land Sinks
Buy Bamboo
Bamboo Production
When they are available, I will purchase products made from bamboo instead of wood, plastic, or metal.
Land Sinks

Sometimes protecting nature requires feeling connected to nature. I will invest 60 minutes in exploring and appreciating a natural area in my region, whether a forest, wetland, coastal area, or somewhere else.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
Reduced Food Waste
I will spend at least 10 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.
Buildings
Online Energy Audit
Multiple Solutions
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Electricity
Choose LED Bulbs

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Reduce Food Waste
Reduced Food Waste
I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during Drawdown Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.
Transportation
Test Drive an Electric Bike
Electric Bicycles
I will test drive an electric bike at a local distributor to see if it makes sense to use one in place of my car, or to extend the area I can cover by bike.
Health and Education
Support Businesses Owned by Women, POC, or Immigrants
Sustainable Intensification for Smallholders
I will spend 15 minutes researching and shopping from 3 businesses owned by women, people of color, or immigrants.
Industry

I will practice the "5 Rs" — refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle — to reduce my waste more than I can with just recycling alone.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Smaller Portions
Reduced Food Waste
I will use smaller plates and/or serve smaller portions when dishing out food.

Justyna Miziolek 5/12/2026 1:14 AMDid you know that composting your food scraps doesn't just keep waste out of landfills. When organic matter decomposes without oxygen in a landfill, it releases methane, a greenhouse gas roughly 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Composting converts these scraps into nutrient-rich fertilizer instead.-

Magdalena Baran 5/12/2026 1:20 AMReally important reminder — composting is such a simple habit with a big environmental impact. Turning food scraps into something useful instead of methane-producing waste is a win for both the planet and the soil!

Justyna Miziolek 5/06/2026 12:58 AMFun fact about waste: chewing gum takes 5 years to decompose, while a plastic bottle takes 500 years! -
Justyna Miziolek 5/05/2026 5:30 AMDid you know that the main Krakow's PSZOK (Point for Selective Waste Collection) better known as Lamusownia is located at ul. Nowohuckiej 1D.
