Learned about weeds
My action was attending a presentation by Oonagh about weeds, where I also got to see real examples she brought to work. My goal was to increase my knowledge about common weeds and how they impact our environment. I chose this because understanding weeds better can help in managing them effectively, promoting healthier gardens and green spaces. Plus, it was a great opportunity to learn from a knowledgeable colleague.
Electricity
Spread the Word about Energy Alternatives
All Electricity Solutions
I will research and tell 10 people each day about the benefits of alternative energy sources like wind turbines, solar energy, geothermal energy, and methane digesters.

Attended BAA Green Team Session on Sustainable Aerospace
My Action: I attended the BAA Green Team session on sustainable aerospace to deepen my understanding of how the aerospace industry is working to reduce its environmental impact. My Goal: My goal was to learn about innovative sustainable practices in aerospace and apply this knowledge to support and advocate for greener technologies and policies within my community and workplace. Why I Chose It: I chose this action because aerospace is a significant contributor to global emissions and I believe that by educating myself on sustainable solutions, I can contribute to meaningful change in this critical sector. This session provided valuable insights into how industry leaders are addressing environmental challenges, inspiring me to take further action.

Leticia Mendes 5/28/2026 4:25 PMTaking a few minutes each day to unplug from screens and be present has made a big difference for me. As our challenge comes close to an end, this is one positive habit I’m taking forward. It’s helped me stay grounded and focused. What’s one positive habit you’re going to keep beyond this challenge? Let’s inspire each other!

Absolutely agree Leticia - I often leave the phone alone and even if I hear it ping I think if important they will continue to ping or call so I just leave it and enjoy the non technology moments.
Something have progressed that the apps must be used as an example when playing golf we need to score via an app. I always make sure that I shut the screen off to preserve the battery and not tempted to look at the phone.

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Leticia Mendes 5/25/2026 3:49 PMYour diet impacts deforestation mainly through high demand foods like beef, palm oil and soy, which often cause forest clearing. To reduce your impact, eat less meat, choose sustainably sourced products, eat more plants and avoid food waste. This helps protect forests and supports a healthier planet. -

Leticia Mendes 5/21/2026 11:30 PMDid you know that many of the fruits and vegetables we eat today were once considered weeds? For example, wild mustard plants are the ancestors of broccoli, cauliflower and kale! Nature’s “weeds” have given us some of our favorite foods. 🍅🥦🌿-

Leticia Mendes 5/20/2026 10:01 PMDid you know... The Moon Powers Our Tides?
The Moon’s gravity pulls the oceans, creating tides that help generate tidal energy. When the Sun, Moon, and Earth line up during full and new moons, we get extra-strong “spring tides” — perfect for boosting tidal power!-

Leticia Mendes 5/18/2026 3:59 PMDid you know that some modern refrigerators are now using natural refrigerants like CO₂ and ammonia instead of traditional synthetic ones? These natural refrigerants have much lower global warming potential, making refrigeration systems more climate-friendly while still keeping our food fresh. It’s a big step toward reducing the environmental impact of cooling technologies! 🌿❄️-

REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?
Leticia Mendes 5/18/2026 3:53 PMRefrigerants used in supermarkets are powerful greenhouse gases that contribute significantly to climate change when leaked. Supermarkets have large refrigeration systems that can release these gases, increasing their carbon footprint. Reducing leaks, using low-GWP refrigerants, and improving efficiency help minimize this impact.
