REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
Evelyn McLean 4/30/2025 7:30 PMI learned they are powered by the natural rise and fall of ocean tides and currents. They compare to other energy sources because they are renewable and are hard to get mainstream production. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Evelyn McLean 4/30/2025 11:05 AMI learned that the need for family planning is very important for many reasons like health and population control. Women all over the world are without contraceptives, education, and resources they need for family planning, and so their health when it comes to reproduction is overlooked. The population growing out of control is a product of this, which is bad for climate change since more people being born means more and more resources needed that the Earth cannot support. The needs of different people in different places compare to each other because everywhere, no matter wealth or other factors, it is very important to have reliable and safe options and education relating to reproductive health since it affects society and individuals as a whole. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Evelyn McLean 4/29/2025 11:03 AMMicro turbines could maybe be installed at schools in my city and also downtown because of all the buildings. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhat was the most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices?
Evelyn McLean 4/29/2025 10:51 AMThe most interesting thing was how they have fish farms where they put antibiotics and stuff in the farms. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Evelyn McLean 4/29/2025 10:39 AMYes they are. Stuff like bamboo straws and more are available to me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Evelyn McLean 4/25/2025 11:24 AMPeople in richer countries eat more meat than in other places because meat takes a lot to produce and so its expensive. Eating meat affects our bodies by increasing the risk of certain diseases. It affects our planet by negatively impacting climate change. It affects other people because people who are not wealthy are more likely to have jobs in meat processing which can affect their health badly. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Evelyn McLean 4/25/2025 11:15 AMAll of these kinds of waste motivate me to change my behavior regarding food waste because they are all important in different ways and should not be getting wasted.-
