REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat was an inspiring thing you learned in Drawdown's Climate Solutions 101 Series?
Alina Luong 10/31/2025 8:18 PMI learned a lot more on the concept of carbon sinks. I used to think that plants were the only thing that absorbs carbon dioxide, but it actually includes ocean, wetlands and soil too -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityAfter you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?
Alina Luong 10/31/2025 7:26 PMAccording to the Footprint Calculator, I saw that I would need 2.9 Earths. I was really surprised that food and mobility accounted for most of my footprint at 1.3 and 1.4 global hectares each. As those are my largest categories, I noticed that some impactful things i can probably do is to eat less meat and attempt using public transport. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Alina Luong 10/31/2025 7:07 PMAccording to the CA Fish advisory fact sheet, fish contain harmful chemicals like mercury and PCBs. The OEHAs guidelines reccomend to: eat a variety to fish, eat smaller fish, eating only the meat on both fish and crustaceans. I don't eat a variety of fish, but I am guilty of eating the skin of it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksWhat coastal site did you visit and what did you learn while there?
Alina Luong 10/28/2025 12:56 PMI visited Marina State Beach. I was able to learn the names of different species using the iNaturalist app. I think I found a California gull? -

Alina Luong 10/16/2025 5:55 PMI've been trying to eat more mindfully without distractions. At first, it took a little bit of getting used to without being on my phone, but I have started slowing down and appreciating the food I have in front of me :)
