REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow can you take your commitment to sustainable living beyond yourself? How can you, personally, work toward broader change?
Emilee Lindner 5/12/2026 7:22 PMI will continue to work toward a sustainable community through Southern Tier Reduces, which aims to educate our neighbors about waste, implement reuse systems, and advocate for change at the policy level. Together, we can make a better world. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Emilee Lindner 5/12/2026 7:20 PMConstant deforestation concerns me most about climate change -- not just the loss of biodiversity and carbon sinks, but the emissions from the machinery and the resulting livestock on these lands. Also, how it takes away land from indigenous people.-
Magdalena Baran 5/12/2026 11:51 PMWhat concerns me the most is how normalized overconsumption has become. We produce and buy more than we really need, which leads to pollution, huge amounts of waste, deforestation, and unnecessary emissions.

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityIdentify some ways in which modern human societies have become unsustainable. What kind of roles do individuals have in creating and changing practices in society?
Emilee Lindner 5/12/2026 7:17 PMOur system of fast food is unsustainable -- food is factory farmed on deforested land and then served up on single-use plastic. But we can change that by decreasing our spend at fast food places and demanding reusable options at restaurants. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Emilee Lindner 5/12/2026 7:15 PMYou can express your personality without buying new clothes by coming up with different combos of outfits with the clothes you already have. Thrifting is fun too. Also, accessorizing and hair are great ways to switch it up without buying new outfits. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Emilee Lindner 5/09/2026 6:10 AMI want to prioritize my garden, time with family, and community.-
Magdalena Baran 5/10/2026 1:28 PMThe older I get, the more I value simple things like being in nature, cooking slowly and having space to actually enjoy life.

REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Emilee Lindner 5/09/2026 5:34 AMI have gotten pretty good at eliminating single-use plastics. I use bottle-less shampoo and make sure I support business that have refill options. The tough part is those snacks like chips, pretzels and crackers! I made my own crackers from sourdough starter discard and they were really good! Taste like cheez-its kinda. But my husband has a pretzel addition. We are trying our best! However, there's always room to grow in this modern-day world. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow could you incorporate other "Rs" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "Rs" make you feel?
Emilee Lindner 5/09/2026 5:32 AMReduction is my number one priority! The less you buy, the less you have to recycle. It's really hard with kids because I have to teach them that the "shiny new thing" is not going to be shiny and new forever. This isn't just a kid issue, it's a grown-up issue too! I walked into Barnes & Noble yesterday and was attracted to all the "shiny new" stuff in pretty boxes and bows -- even though I know I can get everything I need at the library! Marketing is really a human psychology thing! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityHave you been sharing what you learned throughout Drawdown Ecochallenge? How have people responded?
Emilee Lindner 5/01/2026 3:35 AMI learned about offshore wind today and the carbon emissions it can save the world annually -- 2 GT from even a low adoption. I posted on my IG stories in context of the administration's bribes to energy companies (abandon your win projects and invest in fossil fuel projects instead). It's so frustrating to know there are renewable sources of energy, but there are rich people standing in the way of progress... all the while gas prices are higher than ever.
