    Land Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 2
How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?

    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:45 PM
I have wanted to cut down on a lot of sugar for a long time but now gave myself a reason to one of the things I cut from my diet was nutella which includes palm oil which is gathered from trees that are chopped down in the Amazon rainforest, I usually had nutella very often in the mornings but now will switch to something like cereal this being not too hard of a change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

    Ange Kol's avatar
    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:40 PM
I enjoy riding in transit because I get to see a lot of things and enjoy my rides while I do like biking it requires a lot less effort to sit in a bus from a point to another. I do feel more engaged while biking or walking and also driving but riding in a bus or trolley lets me see more of the outside and look out for things because I am not the one in control.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

    Ange Kol's avatar
    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:36 PM
I usually always go for walks for my dogs but gave me the challenge of going out for a longer walk and taking a different route, this made me appreciate more of my area and enjoy the walk with my dog and instead of telling myself the walk was for my dog it made me feel that it was for me too which I enjoyed.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Go by Bike
How does using human-powered transportation make you feel compared to using other methods of transportation?

    Ange Kol's avatar
    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:35 PM
It made me feel like I was working more to get to my destination, I used to use my bike a lot before but stopped when I started driving so it felt pretty normal to get to these places by bike and a lot of fun. I went to get groceries by bike like I used to and it felt good and very nostalgic.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Public Transit
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    Ange Kol's avatar
    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:33 PM
I used to use the public transportations a lot because they are free and I had no other way to get around so using it was a very good experience, i started using it more recently and decided to give me the challenge of using it more so whenever I go places I would look if I could get there by bus or trolley and if I could I would usually take that option for convenience for carbon admissions and for saving money from gas spending.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Stay on the Ground
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

    Ange Kol's avatar
    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:30 PM
I had the plan of this summer to visit multiple universities but decided to not go by plane but instead enjoy a train ride throughout California to go up north and back down this was an easy transition knowing that we had not made any plans of buying tickets yet.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Explore Other Transportation Solutions
What did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?

    Ange Kol's avatar
    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:28 PM
I learned that our Trolley system produces almost 0 emissions ever it is all powered by electricity and the city tries their best to have busses consume and produce the least amount of emissions as possible this making it a lot more ecological for people using these sorts of transportation.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

    Ange Kol's avatar
    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:21 PM
Finding suitable land for the plants would be something that would cost money buying the land and buying all of the equipment for building these suitable environments, this will take a lot of time but will be beneficial in the future and a worthy investment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Calculate My Household Carbon Footprint
After you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?

    Ange Kol's avatar
    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:19 PM
I saw that a lot of the consumption of my carbon footprint came from traveling since I use a car very often something that could help reduce it a lot would be using more public transportation and using my car a lot less, other things could be while cooking food or leaving lights on when not needed.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More about Wave and Tidal Energy
What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?

    Ange Kol's avatar
    Ange Kol 5/27/2024 9:17 PM
Both wave and Tidal energy are very low in the consumption and emission of carbon with both of the energy sources being renewable they are also very lasting and can be very reliable since they can be very predictable.
