REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Raimonda Karalius 7/25/2025 7:34 AMIโm a pescatarian, so I donโt eat red meat like beef. That helps lower deforestation, since raising cows often leads to trees being cut down. To lower my impact even more, I can choose fish that are caught in safe, earth-friendly ways and eat more fruits and vegetables that are grown close to home. This helps protect forests and supports better farming. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Raimonda Karalius 7/24/2025 2:33 PMI want to prioritize sustainability and mindful living over material stuff. Choosing to go paperless helped me focus on reducing waste and making choices that are better for the planet, rather than collecting things I don't really need/want.-

Need versus want can be a tough decision sometimes, but it gets easier the more you practice.

Raimonda Karalius 7/14/2025 12:40 PMI switched everything to paperless so I get emails instead of paper mail. I also found a great website called CatalogChoice where you can stop junk mail from companies. Itโs been super helpfulโno more paper clutter! The only tricky one is Capital One. My husband and I still get 2โ4 letters a week from them. CatalogChoice doesnโt have access to stop it, but they gave me a phone number to call. I tried, but after waiting on hold for almost 30 minutes, no one answered...-

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityAfter you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?
Raimonda Karalius 7/14/2025 12:31 PMYes, after seeing my carbon footprint, I saw that I can make some changes like using less electricity, creating less waste, and picking more eco-friendly products. I donโt eat meat and donโt drive much, so Iโm working on other small things.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhat was the most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices?
Raimonda Karalius 7/10/2025 11:50 AMThe most interesting thing Iโve learned so far is how sustainable aquaculture can protect the environment while still providing healthy seafood. Iโm glad I chose this topic to research because I didnโt know much about aquaculture before. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Raimonda Karalius 7/10/2025 11:47 AMIโve really enjoyed walking with my husbandโitโs a nice break from our usual work routine. The trail near our home is sometimes noisy from traffic, so we plan to visit a quieter, more natural spot next week that we havenโt been to in months. Weโll bring a bag to pick up any litter, since I remember seeing some trash there last time, especially near the picnic areas where there arenโt enough trash bins.-

What a wonderful way to connect! My husband and I spent so many hours walking woods together. Our favorite place was the Merwin Preserve at Parklands. -
Jess Miner 7/10/2025 6:56 PMThatโs great! My husband and I love to walk a couple miles after dinner. Picking up litter is great multi tasking!
