Eunice Juarez 5/04/2025 10:25 PMDuring my research on waste I decided to contribute to cleaning the beach in Santa Monica where many trash was found such as plastic, styrofoam, and even sanitary products. It was a nice way to spend time with friends and it made me realize that many people are willing to help our planet since there was a huge crowd waiting to help along with me. It was so mischievous fun and I can’t wait to do it again if the occasion arises.-
Isabela Vega 5/05/2025 9:07 AMI love how you did a beach clean up, especially in LA. The beaches in my opinion are not as clean as the beaches in San Diego which is where I am from. Small actions like going on a beach clean up with a couple friends and family is a right step in improving the quality of the beaches, and most importantly, protecting the wildlife.

Eunice Juarez 4/13/2025 1:08 PMI used to go out for runs almost every day, but honestly it is so difficult to do it in cities. The constant traffic and the reckless driving that has caused me to almost get ran over many times while running /walking. It’s genuinely not that safe. People are constantly moving where I live and is the opposite of a rural area. My dad who is fond of walking everyday drives to the park that is only a half a mile away because the cities are not that walkable. It’s a shame, I loved going for runs but it feels more like a survival run than a relaxing one. Now, I go whenever I have time to go with my dad. But I wish I could let my guard down constantly just by walking outside, but with the local stores people are honking in cars, not paying attention and everyone’s in a rush. Walking out in nature is wonderful, you hear birds singing, breeze hitting your face and if you really pay attention you can find bird nests up in trees and flowers beginning to bloom.-
Aanchal Kasargod 4/24/2025 7:17 PMHi Isabela,
I totally relate to the feeling of being in "survival mode" on a run. I am a pretty avid runner myself, and I have found a few nice places around campus to do a quick shake out. Some of my favorite places include: Stone Canyon, Holmby Park, San Vicente, and the UCLA campus loop. -
Isabela Vega 4/13/2025 5:48 PMThat bird is so cute and small. I agree with you in that it is sometimes difficult to run in cities with the constant commotion, stop and go, and traffic. I sometimes will not run with headphones, so I can be more aware of my surroundings and be cautious of sirens and horns. However, with some exploring, I have found some paths that are generally smooth and safe around UCLA and Beverly Hills. Running through neighborhoods gives a slight escape to the hustle of the city!

Eunice Juarez 4/13/2025 12:52 PMI take the train on my commute to school rather than driving a motor vehicle. I usually do this to avoid the horrendous L.A traffic. Throughout my commute I am able to multitask like doing my homework , reading or listening to music . These are the activities that I would not be able to do if I was driving. Although I do plan on taking the train and then driving to shorten the time it gets me to take home, I think taking the train is a good way to get by. Although the train does lack in many areas as it can be slow and have a lot of technical difficulties. But overall it’s an underrated and I believe it could be improved so more people take it rather than driving. -
Eunice Juarez 4/05/2025 11:43 PMI am here because the environment needs more people to realize the seriousness of climate change and its effects. I’m hoping I will learn more about helping our planet and to advocate the effect it has on our society if not treated properly. I also love the beach and building sand castles and it saddens me how many trash is found in the water. I’m hoping in learning how to take care of them.
