Jamie Jacquart 4/21/2024 7:18 AMToday I logged over 8,000 steps while working on an electronic collections program. It was work, but also a great way to help so many families relieve themselves of basements and garages full of old items. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/19/2024 6:40 AMToday I was able to take a walk with someone else and shared one of my favorite spots in the campus forest. It's a spot where the poets Thoreau and Emerson likely had lunch one day on a walk from New Bedford to Westport around 1855. It's awesome to be connected to that kind of history right here on our campus. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/18/2024 6:45 AMI chose to walk to the center of campus today for a meeting. It's a nice walk, and the path I followed was completely on sidewalks with clear crosswalks at street crossings, so that was good. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/18/2024 6:43 AMToday's walk was a brief one with the dog; he is not in this for my exercise, which is difficult to explain to him. It also involved an extra two trips to the car repair location, which is an hour away, so a total of 4 hours on the road, which made it difficult to keep to a big walk in my day. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/16/2024 10:43 AMToday's walk was around New Bedford's downtown. There are lots of sidewalks, crosswalks and clear signage to inform vehicles to yield to pedestrians. While some of it includes faded paint that could use a refresh, the city is doing a good job of maintaining the infrastructure. They are also doing better with marking the pavement for bike paths, which is an increasing choice for many people in the area. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/15/2024 7:52 AMToday I had the chance to again run to Connecticut, but this time with a bit more flexibility. While charging the car, I did get out to take a spin around a shopping area. They did a great job of clearly marking crosswalks, moving pedestrians safely through parking lots and making sure that there are sidewalks that take you where I needed to go! -
Jamie Jacquart 4/15/2024 7:50 AMToday I worked with my student team to organize a lot of the scrap metal we have to recycle for the University. It was two hours of solid work by 8 of us to get the lion's share of work done. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/15/2024 7:47 AMToday I was able to lead a Forest Bath, which included a wonderful walk through our campus forest and low-mow pasture. It's a 12 acre area where we only mow the grass once a year. The Forest Bath was a great time to intentionally go out and wander in the forest, intentionally observe our surroundings and truly just enjoy nature. With all of the extra oxygen from the experience, I hope to sleep really well tonight! -
Jamie Jacquart 4/15/2024 7:44 AMToday I took a walk in honor of my son Alex's 21st birthday! He was born at 11:11 on the 11th, so I. called him while on my walk, which was a treat. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/15/2024 7:42 AMAnother beautiful New England day!
