  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Education
What did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?

    Paxton Hyatt's avatar
    Paxton Hyatt 4/30/2025 6:40 PM
What I learned about family planning is that it can help reduce poverty. The way it can do that is when struggling adults accidentally have a kid, they aren't just put into poverty immediately. I also learned about how they can in the long term help reduce global warming.
The needs of different people in different places are while having the same overarching idea cn be very different in the USA for example, abortion is the main contender in that ring but in other countries with fewer rights for women, like Saudi Arabia Where their whole body is still restricted in marriage, divorce and child custody
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?

    Paxton Hyatt's avatar
    Paxton Hyatt 4/30/2025 6:07 AM
It can be better than wind in pure energy produced however, it is more expensive and cant be made in as many places. I would say it's worse than solar but that's just because solar is so widespread right now. Its pretty average but is really held back by where it can be placed.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

    Paxton Hyatt's avatar

I have noticed on my daily walks that the sidewalks aren't that great they have them sometimes but then after a minute its back to just normal street its relly weird

The inconsistencies in the sidewalks also are of note to me. While I am able to avoid tripping hazards by paying attention to where I am going, the big cracks make me think of the accessibility issues. For example, someone else may find it difficult to navigate the bumpy sidewalks, which may make them less eager to enjoy the outdoors.

One common notice on my daily walk are the nice people who smiles and greets you.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

    Paxton Hyatt's avatar
    Paxton Hyatt 4/29/2025 6:48 AM
It could be put on small housing or apartments for power if it ever goes out, which is important, especially with the hurricane that just happened, You can never be too safe.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Had you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!

Biomass is a renewable bridge to cleaner resources and covers a way wider range of things than I thought. What surprised me was how much could be saved using biofuel.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

    Paxton Hyatt's avatar
    Paxton Hyatt 4/23/2025 6:13 AM
The way i can invest in geothermal energy is by taking time to learn bout it and spreading it by mouth
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

    Paxton Hyatt's avatar
    Paxton Hyatt 4/21/2025 6:21 PM
It is more healthy for you nd will let u live longer it will help others by not contributing to our planet by not contributing towards methane production produced by cows.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Paxton Hyatt's avatar
    Paxton Hyatt 4/02/2025 6:14 AM
No, i had never heard of the term silvopasture before now. I think the most significant advantage of silvo pasture is the shade for the cows.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Paxton Hyatt's avatar
    Paxton Hyatt 3/28/2025 6:39 AM
Just because something is use by or best by by a few days doesnt mean u have to throw it out immediately saving on food waste and money (if its expired by you should throw it out)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

    Paxton Hyatt's avatar
    Paxton Hyatt 3/21/2025 5:52 AM
It affects me because as I dont use any devices while eating I can just look around and enjoy the food
