  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?

    Dublin Hankins 4/30/2025 6:34 AM
I learned it existed, and it's a more reliable renewable energy resource
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

    Dublin Hankins 4/29/2025 6:40 AM
Micro turbines could be instaied in places like the AC hotel or the city hall building
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
What was the most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices?

    Dublin Hankins 4/29/2025 6:06 AM
The most intresting thing was how fish farms were only created like 60 years ago
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Had you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!

    Dublin Hankins 4/27/2025 10:11 AM
I had heard of biomass technology before but something new that I learned was not only waste is included in it but also wood.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

    Dublin Hankins's avatar
    Dublin Hankins 4/27/2025 9:03 AM
I can invest in geothermal energy by talking to my parents about getting a geothermal pump to replace our heat in winter and A.C in summer
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Dublin Hankins's avatar
    Dublin Hankins 4/02/2025 6:07 AM
I had not heard the term Silvopasture before now, and now that I have,e I think the most significant advantage of silvopasture is the more nutrient dense forage and the better living quality for the animals
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

Knowing the difference between these labels will help stop us from wasting perfectly good and edible food that people all over the world need.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

    Dublin Hankins's avatar
    Dublin Hankins 3/19/2025 5:58 AM
Yes I do and incorporating an electric bike might make it so my shorter trips are more climate friendly
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Dublin Hankins's avatar
    Dublin Hankins 3/18/2025 6:27 AM
My diet is currently impacting deforestation by consuming coffee and certain types of chocolate. I can decrease a negative impact by lowering my coffee intake.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
