If you're sending a lot of packages, there is a great eco-version of package fillers - they are made out of potato starch. I love them as they don't create any waste - you can put them in the kitchen sink and they will just melt with water and disappear. Magic!

Did you know that polyester clothes are not only a problem when they end up in a land field but a lot earlier? Every time they are washed, they release microplastics into the water. Natural materials are the way to go!

I did not know... it is scary considering the amount of polyester clothing in stores these days.

Another great way to reduce waste is to use apps like "To good to go". Download the app and check if any restaurant/bakery/florist/shops in your area uses it. They inform via app that they have leftovers of some products that are still good to use, available to be bought with a discount

one of my eco-friendly habits is cooking with local products that are currently in season. They are better tasting and they didn't have to be transported from the other side of the world. E.g. right now in Poland, we have asparagus, spinach, kale in season and also strawberries and tomatoes are starting now too!

did you know that recycling rules may vary between cities and even the building you live it? For example, one of the buildings I used to live in, had a rule that bio-waste can only be thrown out in plastic bags. This was to prevent the communal bin from corrosion. On the other hand, my next building had an opposite rule and no plastic bags were allowed in the bio-waste!

Sometimes you buy a new cosmetic because it has great reviews, you try it and it's just awful for you. What can you do with it instead of just throwing it out? Here are some of my ideas:
    - Shampoo/face wash - pour it into a liquid soap dispenser and use it to wash your hands; use it instead of laundry detergent for hand washing
    - Conditioner - use it to wash your woolen sweaters or for shaving
    - Face cream - use it as foot cream

Do you have any other ideas?

For Krakow-based colleagues - did you know that there are jar-sharing places in our city? you can leave jars that you no longer need or take one that's available for free. Below you can see a picture of one located in Plac Imbramowski (local food market), but there are more! All locations can be found e.g. in Facebook Group "Bank Sloikow Krakow"

Are you familiar with Shinrin-yoku, Japanese forest bath? It's basically mindful forest experience using all your senses. It's proven to reduce stress, regulate blood pressure and blood sugar. I've learned this last year and this last weekend, I went back to the same place to practice it!

Getting a reusable coffee cup is a game-changer if you are a fan of drinking coffee (or other hot beverages) outside - it not only reduces waste, but it is also much healthier for us in comparison to paper cups. More and more coffee shops will accept your own cup and some of them will also give you a discount for it. You can now get one that folds and takes nearly no space in your purse or backpack!
