REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn About AquacultureWhat was the most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices?
Benjamin Garcia 3/23/2024 5:20 PMI think that the most interesting this about aquaculture the wide variety of fish that can be sustainably farmed and a lot of them are things that we consume in large amounts such as salmon and sea bass. If we were to move to more aquaculture rather than traditional fishing we could save a lot of populations. As well as being able to pick and choose what we can cannot fish. For example say we wanted to fish invasive species rather than hurting endangered ones -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More About Geothermal EnergyGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Benjamin Garcia 3/23/2024 4:52 PMGeothermal energy as the name implies is energy that comes from deep within the earth. This is a type of renewable energy due to the fact that the earth is always producing heat. We can find these sources in places like volcanos, geothermal vents that produce steam, and things like geysers, and hot springs. The uses of geothermal energy range from direct and indirect heating systems, electricity generation in power plants, geothermal heat pumps. Best way to invest is getting educated and also investing in certain companies that are doing the work -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More about Wave and Tidal EnergyWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
Benjamin Garcia 3/23/2024 4:29 PMI learned that waves are generated by wind while the tide is dictated by the gravitational pull of the sun and the moon on the worlds oceans. While the waves may require wind to be created waves are more reliable than wind energy because despite there being little to no wind the waves will still be there consistently making motion and making energy
