How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

My transportation choices affect how connected I feel to my community, and they have changed because of the high price of gas. Since gas is so expensive, I try to save money by walking more and changing my driving habits. I do not drive as much as I once did, and that shift has made me more aware of the spaces and people around me. Walking helps me feel more present because I can notice nature, the ocean, and the overall atmosphere of my community instead of just passing through it.
My experience definitely differs depending on how I get around. Walking is more enjoyable because it feels peaceful, gives me time to slow down, and lets me spend quality time with my daughters during beach walks. Driving is faster and more convenient, but it feels less personal and costs more. Because of that, I have become more intentional about when I drive and when I choose to walk instead. Overall, this transportation change has helped me save money, enjoy my surroundings more, and feel more connected to my community.

I havOn my walks and hikes, I have really enjoyed being surrounded by nature and getting to see the ocean. I also enjoy beach walks with my daughters, because those moments feel peaceful and special. Walking outside helps me slow down, appreciate the scenery, and spend quality time with my family. One thing I have especially noticed is how much easier walking has become with the sidewalk upgrades at Fort Ord. Those improvements have made crossing safer and walking more comfortable, especially when heading up to the top to see the ocean.
The upgrades make a big difference because they make the area feel more accessible and enjoyable for people who want to walk or hike. Instead of worrying as much about crossing or uneven paths, I can focus more on enjoying nature, the fresh air, and the ocean views. What I enjoy most is the combination of the natural surroundings, the beach walks with my daughters, and the beautiful views from Fort Ord. Overall, better sidewalks and safer crossings encourage more people to get outside and enjoy these experiences.

My eco challenge is going well. I am taking the time to learn about tax incentives for electric vehicles, cutting down on my food waste, which has increased my recycling, and I have been eating with no distractions, which has helped me to become more mindful.

Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

The biggest waste i think and most important is water. I drink puriefied water and alkaline water daily. I have changed the way I think about water. I conserve and save more money by buying from a local water supplier here in Marina
