  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

    Lily Duncan's avatar
    Lily Duncan 4/22/2025 9:19 PM
Eating more fruits and veggies and less meat can make me healthier and reduce pollution from farming animals.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry
What are some attributes of an offset that you should consider before purchasing them?

    Lily Duncan's avatar
    Lily Duncan 4/22/2025 9:10 PM
Before buying a carbon offset, you should make sure it's approved by a trusted group. It should show proven/efective carbon reductions. The project should last a long time so the carbon doesn’t come back. Also, the same carbon savings shouldn’t be counted more than once.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry
What did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?

    Lily Duncan's avatar
    Lily Duncan 4/22/2025 9:03 PM
I learned that some refrigerants used in air conditioners and refrigerators can hurt the ozone layer and also cause climate change. Supermarkets contribute to this because they use a lot of these refrigerants in their coolers and freezers, and sometimes they leak into the air.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

    Lily Duncan's avatar
    Lily Duncan 4/21/2025 5:40 PM
Richer people can eat more meat than poorer people because they have better access to expensive foods like meat. Although eating meat helps us by giving us protein, raising meat is extremely harmful to the planet due to the large amounts of greenhouse gases released during the process.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Education
What did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?

    Lily Duncan's avatar
    Lily Duncan 4/08/2025 7:16 PM
I learned that when girls have access to education and family planning, they can make smart choices about when to have children. This helps them stay in school and reach their goals. It also gives them a better chance at getting a good job and supporting their families. When more people can plan their futures, it helps reduce poverty and slow down population growth.

People in different places need different things with stuff like family planning and education. Richer people have easy access to schools and health care, but porer places don’t. In some places, girls don’t get to go to school or make choices about having kids because of rules in there society or in their community. This shows that not everyone gets the same chances, even though they should.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

    Lily Duncan's avatar
    Lily Duncan 4/07/2025 9:50 AM
Other benefits of eating/serving smaller portions are that it lessens overeating, it can save money and helps you appreciate your food more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks
What recipe did you make and how did it turn out? Will you cook with seaweed again?

    Lily Duncan's avatar
    Lily Duncan 4/07/2025 9:46 AM
I made miso soup from scratch which was really good and I will be cooking with seaweed in the future
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Buildings
How do you anticipate replacing your thermostats for smart ones will positively impact your life?

    Lily Duncan's avatar
    Lily Duncan 4/07/2025 9:42 AM
Replacing my thermostats saves energy making controlling the temperature easier and will reduce my greenhouse gas emissions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Education
What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

    Lily Duncan's avatar
    Lily Duncan 4/07/2025 9:37 AM
Some barriers that exist to women's equal participation are how women get paid less than men have fewer opportunities and are raised to think less of themselves.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Lily Duncan's avatar
