  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

    Naomi Collison's avatar
    Naomi Collison 4/30/2025 11:18 AM
It positively affects me because I feel better and have more naturally produced energy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
What was the most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices?

    Naomi Collison's avatar
    Naomi Collison 4/29/2025 10:52 AM
The most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices is that animals are being neglected and it is really sad.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Naomi Collison's avatar
    Naomi Collison 4/28/2025 11:06 AM
You can express your personality, creativity, and values without relying on fast fashion by focusing on quality over quantity, styling items you already have differently, and doing meaningful activities that show your interests.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?

    Naomi Collison's avatar
    Naomi Collison 4/28/2025 11:03 AM
Wave and tidal energy have a higher energy density than wind and solar, and wave energy is more reliable and predictable than wind power.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

    Naomi Collison's avatar
    Naomi Collison 4/28/2025 10:52 AM
Mirco turbines could potentially be installed on the tallest buildings, or apartment complexes with no obstructed view, in Asheville.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks
How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?

    Naomi Collison's avatar
    Naomi Collison 4/28/2025 10:50 AM
It was not that difficult to change my diet because I already don't use a lot with palm oil, etc in them. I had to change out some of my protein bars and snacks, but that is about all.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

    Naomi Collison's avatar
    Naomi Collison 4/25/2025 6:07 AM
Single-use items that I regularly use are plastic bags and straws, and I substitute them by using metal straws which are reusable, and I use the plastic bags to hold my trash so that I don't have to use both mini trash bags AND plastic bags.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

    Naomi Collison's avatar
    Naomi Collison 4/25/2025 6:04 AM
Spending more time outdoors can enhance my sense of place, knowledge, and appreciation because you won't be so ignorant to what's going on outside of your home. It's important to understand and be involved in your environment. You can also help the environment, and the more you see it, the more likely you are to help.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry
How close is the nearest climate-friendly supermarket to your home? How could you encourage local supermarket to reduce or phase out their use of HFC refrigerants?

    Naomi Collison's avatar
    Naomi Collison 4/25/2025 6:01 AM
The closest climate-friendly supermarket to my home is LIDL in Charlotte, because I live in Charlotte on the weekends. I could encourage local supermarkets to reduce or phase out their use of HFC refrigerants by showing substitutes for them, that are just as good.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
