Lexi Bryant 10/30/2025 1:07 PMThis is the last day of the Eco-challenge and I would say I did pretty well, I completed a total of 8 cards/challenges. My favorite was visiting the coast and looking for algae. I think this challenge really helped me become more aware of my actions and lifestyle. I also realized how easy it is to fix my habits and change to a more sustainable life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Lexi Bryant 10/27/2025 1:16 PMI found that the Monterey-Salinas transit switched to using 100% renewable diesel fuel by burning oils and fats derived from natural resources. Of course there is walking and biking but the bus is a huge option especially for longer distances. A cool fact I found was that MST has an approved plan to turn 100% zero emission fleet by 2040. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Lexi Bryant 10/26/2025 7:51 PMSpending more times outdoors really helps me ground myself and take a break from what ever is giving me stress. I find that when I am out in nature a lot, I tend to be a lot more happier and calmer. I find it beautiful how even a few minutes of a fresh landscape and air can help bring peace. It enhances my appreciation of my surroundings by realizing and finding things that I didn't see or recognize before. It makes my trip a lot more interesting and personal. -
Lexi Bryant 10/26/2025 7:46 PMToday, I didn't do one of my eco challenges very mindfully because I got back from visiting my family for the weekend and I had to clean out the food that went bad in my fridge. I wasted some food that I just didn't eat but this challenge made me think a lot more about how I should go differently next time. The challenge card I had was reduce food waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksHave you been sharing what you learned throughout Drawdown Ecochallenge? How have people responded?
Lexi Bryant 10/25/2025 8:44 PMNot necessarily the eco challenge but I posted on instagram, on my story, about how coral reefs are in danger and at a point of no return. I brought awareness to the problem we are facing and resources to learn more. I got a couple of likes on it but lots of views. -
Lexi Bryant 10/21/2025 10:31 PMIt is alarming to see how pretty much everything we do in our day to day lives contributes to global warming. Although, those things that contribute to global warming all come with solutions. It is just the matter of changing our habits which is the hardest part because our world depends on being convince. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Lexi Bryant 10/21/2025 10:29 PMMy diet consists of meats and palm oils that are a huge contributing factor to deforestation. We remove and destroy precious lands to grow more crops. The soy that is fed to chickens could be causing the destruction of precious habitats. I could limit my intake of eating meats like chicken or beef and focus on a more veggie diet. I could also eat more locally and sustainable like farmers markets or tending my own garden. -
Lexi Bryant 10/19/2025 6:45 PMI find that the weekends are the hardest to remember to check in for the ECO challenge. I look back on my days and see how much of my activities contribute to climate change. -
Lexi Bryant 10/14/2025 2:31 PMThis challenge is going good but I find it really sad how much food is wasted and how much of that wasted food can be used for others in need or used in better ways rather than just wasted. This challenge really helps me think and realize the things that I thought were "small" factors in my day to day life are actually huge when they start to add up. It is good to be aware and responsive to your decisions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Lexi Bryant 10/14/2025 2:29 PMI would rather use my money on bills or towards paying off my car or my schooling. There is a lot of ways I can use this money for more beneficial reasons rather than wasting it.
