REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksWhy is protecting the seafloor important?
Eleanor Brown 4/30/2025 2:48 PMProtecting the seafloor is important because it supports marine life, stores carbon, and helps keep ocean ecosystems healthy and balance -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsCities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?
Eleanor Brown 4/30/2025 2:41 PMTo make climate action plans fair, cities should involve all communities—especially those most affected by climate change—in planning and decision-making. They should also focus investments in vulnerable neighborhoods, create green job opportunities, and ensure affordable housing so no one is left behind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsWhy is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?
Eleanor Brown 4/30/2025 12:28 PMTaking action on climate change matters to me because it protects our planet, our health, and the future of generations to come. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Eleanor Brown 4/30/2025 12:17 PMYou can express your personality, creativity, and values by customizing the clothes you already have, swapping or borrowing with friends, supporting sustainable brands, upcycling old items, and showing your style through actions, art, or words instead of just what you wear. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksWhat did you learn about seaweed and its importance to coastal ecosystems?
Eleanor Brown 4/30/2025 12:11 PMSeaweed is crucial to coastal ecosystems because it provides habitat, protects shorelines, supports the food chain, cleans the water, and helps fight climate change by storing carbon. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Eleanor Brown 4/30/2025 11:24 AMI learned that family planning is important because it helps people decide when and how many children to have based on their personal, financial, and health situations. It allows families to provide better care and opportunities for their children while also helping communities manage their resources more wisely. Family planning also plays a big role in reducing the strain on the environment by helping to slow down population growth.
The needs of people in different places can vary a lot depending on where they live and what resources they have. In some parts of the world, people may need access to education and healthcare to learn about and use family planning methods safely. In other areas, people may already have this access but need support with the economic challenges of raising a family. Understanding these differences helps us see why it’s important to support solutions that fit each community’s unique situation. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
Eleanor Brown 4/30/2025 10:57 AMWave and tidal energy are clean, renewable sources that use ocean movement to generate electricity. While they're more predictable than wind or solar, they are currently more expensive and less developed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Eleanor Brown 4/29/2025 2:03 PMI’ve enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and seeing neighbors on my walks, but more sidewalks, better lighting, and safer crossings would make them even better. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Eleanor Brown 4/29/2025 1:52 PMEating or serving smaller portions can lead to better digestion, improved weight management, reduced risk of chronic diseases, and greater mindfulness about eating habits.-
CHARLOTTE GAYNER 4/29/2025 6:16 PMIt is really interesting to see how typical portion sized change from country to country. It is so common in the US to have portion sizes that are too big, resulting in things like more food waste and obesity.
