As my "learn about" challenge, I chose to research alternative transportation methods in order to find ways I could improve my everyday transport to school and other comittements in order to try to live in a sustainble manner as much as possible! After doing some research, I found that in the journal article "Sustainable Transport Systems: Linkages between Environmental Issues, Public Transport, Non-Motorised Transport and Safety", authors Mohan and Tiwari said that there exists a lot of different modes of transportation. Furthermore, the latter modes of transportation should be seen as an investement by the cities and municipalities, in order to push for fewer carbon emissions into the atmopshere. Some examples of these transportation modes that are more sustainable include building more safe infrastructure for bicyclists and pedestrians. This would as a result decrease our reliance on gasoline-fueled cars. (Mohan & Tiwari, 1999, p. 1591). Not only is this idea more environmentally friendly and accessible, but it is also something I beleive a lot of us enjoy. Wether that is biking on a nice sunny day with friends, or taking a walk with your animal or even by yourself, it allows us to cut down our individual carbon footprint, all while maintaining our physical health:)

Today, instead of taking the car to go to work, I checked to see what public trasnport options there were. I took the bus to the train station, and then the train to work. This not only helped me complete my task for the day, but I also helped reduce the amont of emissions let in the air for today!

So far, while participating in this ecochallenge, I have realized that I am more aware of the different things that emit greenhouse gasses. For instance, when shopping, I make sure to choose packaging that is more sustainble or when I go to school, I make sure to refill my reusable waterbottle, instead of buying a plastic one!
