REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhat did you learn from visiting or researching a dairy farm?
Antonio Barron 3/26/2025 11:40 PMAfter researching more about dairy farms, I've learned about the different levels of operation it takes to run one. There's levels related to the care of the cows that involves milking, disposing of waste, reproduction and calf care. Outside of cow care, there are levels dedicated to the transferring, processing and quality checking of milk. There were even parts I hadn't thought of being part of a dairy farm, but are actually very important; the farmers who supply the grain and hay to feed the cows and the technology used for milking and processing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Antonio Barron 3/26/2025 11:14 PMI think micro turbines could be installed on many of the buildings in Marina that are close to areas of the ocean, whether tall or not. The ocean manages to produce enough wind to the point where I believe it could make a significant difference to the usage of energy.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
Antonio Barron 3/26/2025 11:10 PMBefore researching this topic, I wasn't even aware that biomass energy was a source. It was interesting to learn about the different ways organic wastes and the growth of plants could be used for power. It's also an efficient way to produce biofuels like ethanol and biodiesel. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
Antonio Barron 3/26/2025 11:00 PMTidal wave energy is extremely efficient and can be more easily predictable than other sources of renewable energy, unlike wind or solar energy can be vary dependent on the weather of an area. Tidal energy is also very powerful since ocean waves are constantly moving. There are also some challenges that are faced, such as where a tidal energy plant can be built and potential disturbance of marine life in that area.
