Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

You can invest in geothermal energy by learning about it, telling others how it helps the planet, and supporting clean energy laws. When you're older, you can also choose to support it with your money or vote for leaders who do.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Education
What did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?

    Sawyer Armstrong's avatar
    Sawyer Armstrong 4/30/2025 8:46 PM
I learned that family planning helps people decide when and how many children to have, which keeps families healthy and safe. In some places, people need more help getting information or supplies, while in others, they have more choices and support.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?

    Sawyer Armstrong's avatar
    Sawyer Armstrong 4/30/2025 8:40 PM
I learned that wave and tidal energy use ocean movements to generate power. They’re reliable but less developed and more location-specific than solar or wind energy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
What did you learn from visiting or researching a dairy farm?

    Sawyer Armstrong's avatar
    Sawyer Armstrong 4/30/2025 8:36 PM
I learned that dairy farms use lots of technology to care for cows and manage milk production very well. It was surprising how much effort goes into keeping cows healthy and comfortable.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Had you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!

Yes, I had heard of biomass technology before. I was surprised to learn how efficiently it can convert waste into energy. It's a great way to reduce pollution and create renewable power!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Sawyer Armstrong's avatar
    Sawyer Armstrong 4/30/2025 8:27 PM
It allows me to waste less money because I can tell when things are still able to be eaten and I can still insure im being safe when eating things.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

    Sawyer Armstrong's avatar
    Sawyer Armstrong 4/29/2025 7:27 PM
I am more focused on the amount of food I'm eating, and I feel I notice the things I'm eating more so I think more about the effect it's going to have on me.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

    Sawyer Armstrong's avatar
    Sawyer Armstrong 4/29/2025 7:12 PM
We might become less full, and we as a whole will waste less materials and time used to provide the food.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

    Sawyer Armstrong's avatar
    Sawyer Armstrong 4/29/2025 7:06 PM
Eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affects my mood and my health. It can also help the environments thrive when we're not using things like palm oils.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
What was the most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices?

    Sawyer Armstrong's avatar
    Sawyer Armstrong 4/29/2025 6:07 AM
I found that how they managed to maintain the fish's health was very impressive and so that was probably was the most impressive thing to me.
