UU DD just hosted a Sustainable Fashion presentation.  You can also get your sustainable fashion points (In Industry) by watching some interesting documentaries.  If you are interested we can host a video for the June Cinema CAT.

Just learned about Solutionary Rail- a movement to 1) shift shipping from trucks to rail, 2) electrify rail, 3) use rail corridors for electricity transmission.  Well done short video.  https://www.solutionaryrail.org/video  Score Transporation Points.

I just watched this very encouraging video on ‘regenerative agriculture’. Livestock aside, the land management approaches for bringing wasted landscapes back to living biomes (?) is truly exciting!

I've been studying our garbage the past three week to see what we're routinely throwing out and how I can reduce or replace those items. So far I've moved to bamboo paper towels, increased my composting, bought shampoo bars instead of plastic bottles, changed to products with less packaging or at least recyclable non-plastic packaging, and found more local places to take recyclables (shoes and clothes too worn to donate, etc.) It also makes me realize how we need to lobby corporations to be accountable for their raw materials and packaging and to close their manufacturing production/waste loops. Locally, we need to push lawmakers to improve community compost/recycling systems and make them more widespread and accessible to all households.

Admirable Jill! The level of awareness brought on by ‘Ecochallenge’ has certainly changed habits…in both your household as ours. Great story Jill.

Most MOMs Organic markets will take shoes and all H&M stores will take clothing.

Wow Jill!  Where are you taking clothes that are too worn to donate/resell?

Just learned there is a map of grocery stores that use climate-friendly refrigerants!  I didn't see MOMs on the list!? Find this one-time action under Industry and refrigerant management.  https://www.climatefriendlysupermarkets.org/map

All food waste so far is from food preparation - banana skins, pineapple peels, lime peels, green bean stems and chicken bones and all of the non-meat and non-citrus scraps have gone into compost.  Compost bin arriving today.
