June 30 at 5:23 PM2 activities that I didn't get to complete during this challenge, I'm striving to still do them within the next few weeks

June 30 at 11:36 AMI learned that my township has had a Sustainability Action Plan since 2011. The Environmental Advisory Council recently worked with Parks & Recreation on a "Pathway to Zero Waste" plan that removes trash & recycling bins from township parks, and requires all trash and recyclables generated by park visitors to be carried out by...

June 30 at 9:48 AMI can’t believe it’s the final day already! I’m proud of how many check ins and actions I completed! This challenge is a great way to push myself towards more sustainable habits. I love the added bonus of teammates and how it adds support! Seeing our collective actions add up to so many meatless meals, miles traveled without a car, minutes...

June 30 at 8:11 AMReading the news lately, seeing the havoc SCOTUS is wreaking, reading about the truly dire state the climate is, I can't believe that the world Octavia E. Butler imagined in Parable of the Sower is a lot closer to our future than anyone could have guessed. Incredible read about the intersection of environmental justice, capitalism, and faith.

June 29 at 3:22 PMI don’t like to replace things that do not need replacing so as each existing light bulb in my apartment goes out (assuming they aren’t LEDs) I will replace with LED lightbulbs. I have also signed up for community solar so hopefully this month I’ll be seeing how they has changed my energy usage!

June 29 at 3:20 AMFeeling particularly pessimistic today; between an absolutely heinous presidential debate, the SCOTUS overturning of the Chevron doctrine, and all the genocides happening around the world that are being censored and supported by US tax dollars, it's feeling like we're all totally screwed. If any of y'all have read Parable of the Sower, I'm...

June 28 at 4:54 PMOne reason why people in wealthy countries eat a lot of meat is because it's part of their culture. My heritage is northern & eastern European. I was raised on family meals centered on meat. There were always vegetables, but they were considered "sides". Meat does provide certain nutrients that are not available in plants, but...

June 28 at 5:56 AMI just started reading Braiding Sweetgrass for book club and i wanted to share a quote from the second chapter that I have really been loving. If you haven't heard of this book I would definitely recommend it even though I'm only 50 pages in. It's written so beautifully! Okay here's the quote: "If all the world is a commodity, how poor we...

June 28 at 5:50 AMI listen to a podcase called Holding the Fire where indigenous guests come on the show and give their opinions on climate change and how people can reconnect with the earth and grow a different relationship with the world than we have now. It has been the most comforting piece of media I have consumed regarding climate change because it's such...
