    Land Sinks Buy Bamboo
Are bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?

Sometimes DAISO has bamboo utensils, but they sell out quickly.  One eatery near here provides bamboo with takeout

I've been gone for a while. At first, I didn't know our challenge had been extended. Then I was just blah because I had completed all my one-time actions and it appears there is a limit on how many you can have on your dashboard.  I emailed support to see if I can add more. If anyone knows anything about this, please message me!

Health and Education Research Barriers to Participation and Representation
What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

Lack of representation in management and government. Also since I live in Texas, the party in power is putting much effort into reducing reproductive options as well as failing to provide healthcare and childcare both of which impact women inequitably.

Electricity Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

Our household uses about 30% less energy than the average for our state. However, there are only 2 of us, so I'm not sure how to get a more accurate comparison.
I already keep the thermostat up, turn off lights, unplug appliances when not in use (and the dryer is a pain!), etc. Something that is not normally listed as an energy-saving habit is going to bed earlier and getting up earlier.  It saves on using lights and such, especially in the summer.

I'm considering putting the thermostat up yet another degree. When my husband is not home, LOL!

Transportation Express My Support For Walkable Cities
How could better walking infrastructure make your city both more enjoyable and more equitable?

If our city were to follow through on a 4-year-old plan to build more walking/biking trails connected throughout the city, it would improve residents' physical and mental health. There is much research that concludes that time spent outdoors, especially actively improves mental outlook. We can all use that with the terrible effect of the pandemic and political unrest on our mental health.

Such a system of trails would make infrastructure here more equitable because it would reach all parts of the city, and it would enable easier access to shopping and other needed amenities.

Transportation Express My Support For Equitable Biking Infrastructure
What do you like most about biking in your city? What would you like to improve?

Though I don't currently have a bike, I would very much like to get an adult 3-wheel bike to do my errands. Unfortunately, my city is not very bike-friendly. However, bike/walk trails all through the city with connectivity was rated the number one desire of residents here in 2017 when the city was forming a Parks Master Plan.

I just emailed our Parks Director expressing my enthusiasm for the idea. I pointed out human physical and mental health and the reduced carbon emissions and shopping locally that would result. Maybe I can get involved in prodding this plan forward!

Industry Invite a friend to calculate the carbon footprint of their household
What kinds of discussions did you have, or are you hoping to have with friends about climate change?

Whenever an opportunity comes up to discuss climate change and ways to mitigate it without it seeming confrontational or preachy, I take advantage of it. News stories are a good starting point. The current heat dome that is causing so much damage in the western United States is an example. I also point out reasons I make certain decisions, such as walking to the store and making an appointment with our financial advisor about "greening" our investments.

The carbon use calculator linked in this action (Tradewater) is a good tool not only to offset your carbon contribution, but to figure ways to do better. You can see how much carbon you save by eating less meat, for example, just by clicking on the different options.
