I've never had so much time to garden. It definitely has given me opportunities to followthrough on previous ideas and try out new ones. I used burlap bags and planted potatoes and peanuts in them. I'm thinking this will work out. I've read about a variety of flowers to use in your salads, cooking, green products, and so I've planted some with the intent of us trying them out. I moved an unhappy baby cherry tree, fingers crossed. In its place we erected a few very tall obelisks to grow scarlet pole beans. Fun. My flower gardens are looking better, too! All of this outdoor time is helping my mental health:-)
Last night I attended a Dining for Women meeting. We had a speaker from Educate the Children Program in Nepal, our May charity to support. The grant is for two years to provide training and resources to women in this agri community to increase food security, raise family incomes and improve their health. It was also shared that a charity from years back in Senegal will continue to be supported for several more years. It is a community where huge strides were made in halting genital mutation by educating grandmothers. There are two other areas of support--educating girls and support in food stability.
