Recycle Everything I Can

Recycling

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.

Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What's next for you?

    Matt Travis 2/25/2020 7:22 AM
The first step was changing the lightbulbs un my apartment LED lightbulbs. LED lightbulbs don't contain mercury and other dangerous toxins that traditional fluorescent lightbulbs do. Not only are they more energy efficient and better for the environment, but because LED lightbulbs do not need to be replaced as frequently, they will save us money in the long run, and on our electric bill. The second step is to educate family and friends on the importance of this issue and encourage them to make the switch.

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

    Matt Travis 2/24/2020 8:12 AM
It hasn't been as difficult not eating meat as I thought it would be. There are a lot of delicious meatless recipes that I found online. Not only has my new diet been beneficial for the environment, but also a healthier option.

How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

    Matt Travis 2/23/2020 11:08 AM
The past couple of weeks I have tried to eliminate unnecessary travel. Instead of multiple trips to the store every week, Ive done all my shopping at once. Me and two have even begun carpooling to school each week, which will continue to do the rest of the semester.
