I have been separating my trash. By doing so I become more conscious of my waste/consumption. I designated a bag for recyclables and have been reusing bags that came with some items I ordered.

Went on a run and decided to do this podcast. I learned about Dupont Freon 12 (refrigerant) and carbon trade exchange.  1 kilogram of the refrigerant  has the same greenhouse impact as two tonnes of carbon dioxide, which is the equivalent of running your car for six months :O !!!! Also a fun fact I learned is that farmers could be recompensed for feeding their cows food that makes them burp less to help reduce CO2 emissions.

Had to get some soil samples for my environmental class. I decided to walk to the bike park near my house. Felt productive to do my hour exercise and get my work done simultaneously.

It was mind blowing to see so many connections!! Watching this I became more aware of how media distracts our attention, for instance the heavy focus on straw when discarded fish nets are actually a greater problem. Additionally, The UN International Guidelines on Bycatch caught my attention. I am wondering what are the barriers for them to be implemented and how can we create incentives for them to be followed. Overall this movie made me reflect on the need for more systems thinking
  • Reflection Question
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use More Fruits And Veggies
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

I tend to skip veggies but was motivated to do a smoothie today. Got my greens in one big gulp !
  • Reflection Question
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

Today I had 2 snacks that made up the meal. I some guac and chips and cucumber slices with salmon. I bought the salmon at Costco, was suppose to be "wild caught". Although I feel happy with that purchase I reflect on Costcos portions and they are massive! Always buying MORE for LESS. But I only buy what I need, used my friends membership, wouldn't make sense for me to purchase in bulk. No picture this time, sorry, too hungry! :(
