Nanor's Actions
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Explore My Area
Sometimes protecting nature requires feeling connected to nature. I will invest 30 minutes in exploring and appreciating a natural area in my region, whether a forest, wetland, coastal area, or somewhere else.
Industry
Go Paperless
Recycled Paper
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 0.11lbs (0.05kg) a day or 3.3lbs (1.6kg) a month by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks
Smart Seafood Choices
Ocean Farming
I will visit seafoodwatch.org or download the app and commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.
Health and Education
Fund Family Planning
Health and Education
I will donate to supply a community with reproductive health supplies.
Transportation
Go by Bike
Bicycle Infrastructure
I will commute by bike 7 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 0.0 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Land Sinks
Learn More about Silvopasture
Silvopasture
I will spend at least 7 minutes watching videos and/or reading about the environmental benefits of silvopasture.
Buildings
Donate
Improved Clean Cookstoves
I will donate to nonprofits that install clean cookstoves in low-income countries.
Transportation
Conduct Virtual Meetings
Telepresence
I will encourage my office to hold meetings virtually whenever possible instead of requiring travel.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Smaller Portions
Reduced Food Waste
I will use smaller plates and/or serve smaller portions when dishing out food.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Support Local Food Systems
Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 15 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.

Nanor Shahinian 11/23/2020 10:26 PMWhenever I work at my dad's dealership, instead of printing the bills and estimations for the clients, I started sending it to them by email in order to reduce paper use. -
Nanor Shahinian 11/09/2020 7:54 PMI visited seafoodwatch.org in order to make better seafood choices and I was actually happy that they had a category for sushi because I eat it at least once a week. My best friend and I ordered sushi yesterday and we chose the ones that were on the list. I really liked this and I found it very useful. -
Nanor Shahinian 11/07/2020 11:35 PMI donated money to Armeniafund again in order to help my community with health supplies during these very hard times. I will keep donating every month until this war ends and my people feel better. -
Nanor Shahinian 10/26/2020 11:52 PMLast week, instead of going to Starbucks with my car like I usually do every day, I biked there. It was a little weird and funny to go to the drive-through to order a drink with a bike but it was good because I needed to do some cardio. -
Nanor Shahinian 10/07/2020 11:44 AMI watched a video yesterday on the benefits of silvopasture and I learned that it provides water and wildlife habitat protection. It also talks about how trees increase animal welfare by helping protect livestock from extreme weather, such as wind and heat. -
Nanor Shahinian 9/30/2020 11:23 AMI donated money to Armeniafund for the installation of clean cookstoves in Armenia because they are living in difficult conditions and need all the help they can get right now. My family and I also donated money to Armeniafund for the soldiers that are risking their lives right now to protect our country from the Turkish and Azerbaijani attacks. Whatever these 2 countries are doing is horrible and unacceptable. -
Nanor Shahinian 9/23/2020 11:29 AMI work at my dad's dealership, I take appointments and prepare the bills. This week, instead of going to my office and working there, I did everything at home in order to not use my car for nothing. I took client appointments and prepared their bills at home. -
Nanor Shahinian 9/16/2020 11:36 AMI cooked a smaller portion of a meal and used smaller plates in order not to waste any food. I did not have to throw away any food. -
Nanor Shahinian 9/09/2020 3:55 PMI went to the farmer's market in Laval, I bought fruits and vegetables. My little sister and I ate the fruits with some snacks, they tasted very fresh and amazing. I also made my mom cook a couple of meals with the vegetables. She made an Armenian dish called sini keufte with them and it tasted very good.-
