  • Reflection Question
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

I have no idea why that is the case, and in fact, I actually question the evidence. From my observation, meat is desired and consumed equally by people in every economic level. Fear over not getting enough protein or the dubious science behind vitamin B12 deficiencies tend to frighten people into meat-based diets.

How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

This was an eye-opening learning for me and my family. We now do not stress over food that is past tits sell-by date and instead rely on our common sense and human sense to determine when you dispose of food.  This reduces our food waste, as we tend to consume items completely instead of tossing them after the sell-by date.
  • Reflection Question
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

Health benefits of not eating more food than necessary..
  • Reflection Question
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

The hours of labor, and energy waste motivates me the most, but I can't articulate why exactly - I suppose efficiency and frugality are values for me.
  • Reflection Question
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

When eating without distractions, my mind wanders to topics that I otherwise would have forgotten about.
