Buildings and Cities

Replace gasoline mower with electric

My six year old gasoline rotary mower broke yesterday. I could have had it repaired, but advances in battery technology have spawned the development of practical, cordless electric mowers. So I purchased one rather than repair the stinky gas mower.

Actually replaced 3 bulbs.  I was an early adopter of CFLs back in early 2000s.  I've been a little slower on LED adoption as the jump in efficiency from CFL to LED is not as dramatic as getting rid of the incandescents, but nevertheless a good improvement.

Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Jeff Moran 4/28/2020 4:42 PM
Turns out that with the exception of Infant formula, the dates on food products are NOT guarantors of safety, only wholesomeness and taste quality.  It's up to the consumer to determine if a food product is spoiled based on appearance or swollen packages!
There are USDA guidelines for "shelf-stable" products.
    Key messages:
    1. Food needn't be tossed merely because the Sell By or Best Used By dates have passed.
    2. However, it's buyer beware to determine safety of food.
