Food, Agriculture, and Land Use

Glass recycling

HK has some impediments w.r.t. recycling because there is almost zero manufacturing industry here so recycling means shipping waste long distances, with negative carbon impact. Glass, however, can be recycled. Daily action is to have zero glass in my non-recycled household waste.

A thought provoking exploration of food waste.  If you're in the San Francisco area check out Imperfect Foods - you can make a difference and reduce the waste that happens before food gets to stores.

Its chemical and  physical properties make it a good soil enhancer. By improving soil the rate at which slash and burn deforestation is needed can be reduced so having a double benefit of preserving forest and eliminating the CO2 released in its burning.

Not to mention that Singapore will be able to see blue skies again.
