  • Reflection Question
Electricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

    Alex Liu 3/18/2019 2:26 PM
While geothermal energy isn't available where I live, I can invest in geothermal energy by furthering my research into the benefits of such a renewable resource. In addition, I can advocate through social media to promote a helpful resource

Thanks Alex!  another type of geothermal is described at our support website - we have lots at Bard College and Dandelion is a local company who installs it, replacing oil tanks forever!

What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Alex Liu 3/18/2019 2:16 PM
A sustainable community is one that is completely self-reliant and one that has very little or no waste. To achieve this, more renewable resources such as solar or geothermal and more rules regarding recycling must be implemented and enforced.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

    Alex Liu 3/18/2019 1:53 PM
Overall efficiency in life can improve from this one action. You would need to prepare less food which means buying less food from supermarkets which would reduce waste. In addition, it would prevent people from over eating which could have health benefits.

We're still sitting pretty in 7th place but I really hope that once the challenges kick in we can get to the top
